Varicose veins of the lower extremities are rightfully considered the most common pathology of peripheral vessels, one of the top ten so-called diseases of civilization. In most cases, varicose veins on the legs do not cause serious suffering, and sometimes they even go unnoticed and do not require treatment. Nevertheless, there are situations when it is worth immediately visiting a specialist, undergoing appropriate therapy.
According to statistics, the problem of varicose veins is known to every fourth inhabitant of the world. It is sad that the disease most often attracts attention when it is almost impossible to completely cure it using conservative methods. But if a person has a burdened heredity related to varicose veins and monitors his health, he can detect it early. In this case, the disease can be defeated conservatively, additionally with the treatment of varicose veins at home.
What symptoms can be treated at home?
The earliest or zero stage is the optimal time to start therapy for varicose veins. Not every person can notice its manifestations, since there may not yet be visible changes in the venous vessels on the legs. Towards the end of the working day, the patient begins to notice fatigue and heaviness in the legs. It goes away on its own after a night's sleep. In addition, the first changes in the veins in the legs signal the beginning of an early or stage of compensation: spider veins, cyanosis of the skin of the legs due to a translucent network of veins, the appearance of small local expansions - nodules of varicose veins under the skin.
Is it necessary to consult a doctor in the early stages of the disease? Definitely yes. A vascular surgeon or phlebologist will assess the severity of the changes and prescribe additional studies, on the basis of which treatment tactics will be developed. He will recommend that you follow some dietary restrictions, wear compression underwear, and take phlebotonic classes. In addition to drug treatment, you can find out from a doctor what non-traditional methods of treatment can be used.
We treat varicose veins with the most popular alternative medicine
Home treatment is defined as therapy with home-made remedies based on plants or other available products for both topical and general use. You can treat many diseases with the help of folk methods, including varicose veins, but you should not rely solely on their action, because nature has not yet developed a universal medicine that will help everyone. In any case, therapy should be complex.
Horse chestnut tincture
Horse chestnut flowers and fruits have venotonic properties that can reduce the manifestations of varicose veins of the lower extremities.

Take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day before meals. The duration of treatment is 7 days. This is followed by a two-week break, after which the course can be repeated.
This tool is an analogue of phlebotonics in the pharmacy, which can be alternated with courses of tablet preparations. This tactic allows you to keep the veins in good condition and prevent the progression of the disease. In addition, the chestnut-based product is much cheaper than the official diosmin-based products, which allows to save a lot.
In addition to flowers, horse chestnut fruits are also used. For the recipe, you need to take several chestnuts, wash them, peel them, chop them and pour 200 ml of vodka. Leave in a dark place for 14 days. Apply 30 drops 3 times a day after meals. Approval lasts 1 month. Apple Cider Vinegar

For internal use to treat varicose veins, you can prepare such a remedy: dissolve 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of boiled water and mix. The solution should be taken in a third of a glass before each meal (3 times a day).
Attention! Do not use apple cider vinegar orally in patients with high acid gastritis or gastric or duodenal ulcers.

To make the product, the garlic bulb is peeled, the cloves are washed and crushed using a garlic chopper. The vegetable mass is mixed with butter at room temperature in a ratio of 1: 2. honey for varicose veins
Traditional healers claim that honey and other bee products have a good effect on dilated veins at home. You can simply massage pure honey into the skin of the legs, but not very intensely, because even in its liquid state, the product contains sugar crystals that can damage the skin, clog pores, and even disrupt blood circulation.
It is better to use honey compresses instead of rubbing. To do this, the fabric is smeared with honey, and the "honey" side is glued to the skin. Then the leg is wrapped with polyethylene, and a bandage over it. For reliability, tights or leggings are pulled over them. On the first day, the compress is left for 2 hoursleft to take effect, the exposure time is doubled over the next two days, then you can leave the product on all night.
Despite the safety of honey, allergic reactions to bee products sometimes occur.
For example, ointments can be made from honey by mixing it with oil in a 3: 1 ratio. Experiences with other bee products are also known. One of these recipes involves mixing honey, propolis and vegetable oil in equal parts. Olive, sea buckthorn or sunflower oil is suitable for this. The duration of use of honey products is up to 50 days.
To prepare the tincture, you need to take 100 g of ground nutmeg and pour 500 ml of vodka. The mixture is infused in a bottle at room temperature for 10 days. The tincture is shaken regularly. The mixture should be filtered and taken 20 drops 3 times a day, preferably before meals. After the tincture is drunk, you should take a break for 10 days. The course can be repeated.
Attention! Remember that nutmeg is a poison in large doses: if you take more than 50 g of powder at a time, fatal poisoning is possible.
Alternative medicine also offers such an option for home treatment of varicose veins with nutmeg. Pour a teaspoon of powder with 250 ml of boiling water, add a teaspoon of liquid honey and mix. Leave for 30 minutes. The infusion is drunk in a whole glass 60 minutes before breakfast, another glass can be drunk a few hours after the meal. The visible result will be noticeable in a month. Attention! Datura is a very poisonous plant from the nightshade family. You should be extremely careful when using and storing tincture based on its seeds!
You can treat varicose veins with this tincture locally by applying compresses with it. Some healers may advise oral ingestion, but the chances of poisoning with the remedy are too great to risk your health and life. For a compress, 15 drops of tincture are dissolved in a glass of water, cotton wool moistened in it and applied to the nodes on the legs. On it you need to put polyethylene, which is fixed with a bandage. The exposure time is several hours.
For this treatment, unripe tomatoes are selected, cut into rings and applied to problem areas on the legs (vein nodules, "spider veins"). The slices are fixed with a bandage overnight. Remove the bandage in the morningpossible, at least throughout the tomato season.
The active ingredient in green tomatoes is lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that normalizes the elasticity of the vein walls. In addition to green vegetables, you can use regular tomato paste in the form of compresses and include it or tomatoes in your diet in any form.
yogurt and vermouth

The course of therapy is 5 days with breaks of 7 days, it can be repeated periodically. After 2 months of regular use, visible vascular changes disappear.
To prepare the product, freshly cut Kalanchoe leaves are removed, washed, dried and ground in a blender. Fill a glass with a capacity of 0. 5 liters halfway with Kalanchoe porridge and fill it to the neck with vodka. Insist for 7 days, occasionally stirring the tincture in a dark place. Filter and rub the mixture on the legs 2 times a day.
Grate fresh potatoes on a fine grater, squeeze slightly, apply gruel to shins and thighs. Wrap the top with polyethylene or cling film. Next, put on compression stockings. After 40 minutes, the compress is removed and the mass is washed off with warm water.
Clay is used in varicose veins for applications, baths, packs, embrocations. Blue clay is best suited for the treatment of this disease. It improves microcirculation and metabolism, strengthens blood vessel walls.
For a clay foot bath, add 2 tablespoons of the powder to an incomplete bucket of water up to 37°C, mix thoroughly. The duration of the procedure is 15 minutes. It is best to do it before bedtime, after which go to bed immediately.
A mixture of garlic and blue clay is used for grating. It is applied to areas where "spider veins" have appeared with light massage movements. This method is best used in the early stages of the disease.
Hot water should not be used during the preparation of clay products for the treatment of varicose veins, as this increases blood circulation in the legs, which is contraindicated in this disease.
Applications with clay are best done with pronounced subcutaneous nodes. To do this, the powder must be diluted with water to a thick consistency and applied in a thick layer to the affected areas, which should be covered with cling film. The duration of the procedure is up to 60 minutes.
The solution for wrapping is prepared as follows: 100 g of blue clay is dissolved in 2 liters of water. Bandages are soaked in it, with which the lower limbs are not very tightly wrapped. The procedure takes up to 30 minutes. It is repeated after 3 days. The duration of treatment is 12 packs or more.
Means based on other medicinal plants
The healing effect of many medicinal plants and medicinal herbs has not lost its topicality over time. Here are a few recipes for varicose veins based on it:
- Pour 250 ml of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of dry and crushed hop cones, place in a water bath and boil for 15 minutes. The decoction is taken 250 ml 3 times a day before meals. Of this remedy, compresses for varicose veins help well.
- 2 tablespoons of dry crushed hazel leaves are poured into 500 ml of boiling water and infused in a thermos for 2 hours. Take 125 ml 3 times a day before meals.
- 2 tablespoons of a mixture of hazelnut bark and arnica, taken in equal parts, should be poured into 600 ml of boiling water. Infuse in a thermos for 10-12 hours. The drug should be taken 200 ml 3 times a day.
- Mix equal parts dried nettle, birch leaves and burdock. Pour a tablespoon of raw materials with a liter of boiling water and leave for 30 minutes, strain and put in the foot bath.
- Pour 0. 5 buckets of boiling water over 100 g of felt cabbage, leave to stand for 8 hours, strain. Take as a foot bath for up to 0. 5 hours.
- Take 2 tablespoons of flaxseed and pour 1 liter of boiling water. Leave for 20 minutes, strain, dilute with 2 liters of water. Use as a foot bath for up to 20 minutes.
Of course, varicose veins cannot be cured with the help of baths alone, but they perfectly relieve fatigue and heaviness after a long stay on your feet.
In order to prevent both the disease itself and its further progression, a few recommendations should be followed:
- do not abuse spicy, salty, smoked, fatty foods, alcohol and quit smoking;
- drink plenty of water to avoid blood clots (optimal - 40 ml / kg of weight);
- participate in weight loss;
- avoid wearing high heels;
- regularly do gymnastics for the legs, since the muscles are the best helper for the veins in pumping blood;
- If you're sedentary, make sure you get up, walk around, and stretch every 30-60 minutes.
- Tempering procedures: alternating shower, foot baths;
- foot massage and self-massage;
- Wearing compression stockings, selected by the doctor depending on the stage of the disease;
- After a day's work, it is recommended to elevate your legs for at least half an hour to improve blood drainage.
Attention! In the case of varicose veins, a position in which one leg is thrown over the other should be avoided - the blood drainage is greatly impaired.
All conventional medicine can only be an addition to the traditional treatment of varicose veins, but without lifestyle correction, both methods will not work.
